Santee School District trustees used their Sept. 1 meeting to recognize a countywide teaching honor and review several board governance policies, according to the district's posted meeting highlights. The recap gives families a quick look at what moved through the board as the new school year settles in.
The district said Robin Larson, a Santee School District educator and San Diego County Teacher of the Year, was honored by Supervisor Joel Anderson's office. Anderson's office proclaimed Sept. 1, 2026, as Robin Larson Day.
Carlton Oaks School staff also presented an update to the board using the district's current theme, Collaborate, Cultivate, and Champion. The board approved revised or new bylaws covering governance standards, disclosure of confidential or privileged information, board representatives and oath of affirmation.
Several additional policies received a first reading, including public statements, board member electronic communications, limits of board member authority and management/confidential vacation rules. For Santee families, the policy work is the kind of behind-the-scenes governance that shapes how the district communicates and makes decisions during the year.
The next regular Santee School District board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Educational Resource Center, 9619 Cuyamaca St. The district says meetings can also be livestreamed through its board meeting page. Source: Santee School District.
