The Santee School District Board of Education appointed Brandi Medrano as executive assistant II to the board and superintendent during its Aug. 4 regular meeting, according to a district meeting recap.

Medrano currently serves as a personnel technician in human resources, the district said. Her previous experience includes work with the U.S. Coast Guard and Palo Verde Unified School District, and she holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Management.

The board also approved revised or new board bylaws and policies on remuneration, reimbursement and other benefits; conflict of interest; and student wellness. New or revised policies on meetings, remote attendance and agenda materials were presented for first reading.

The district noted that the recap is not the official meeting minutes. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Educational Resource Center, 9619 Cuyamaca St.

For Santee families, the update is a routine but useful snapshot of district leadership and board policy work before the new school year gets fully underway.
