Santee School District voters will see Measure BB on the Nov. 3 ballot, a $30 million general obligation bond proposal aimed at repairing and improving local elementary school facilities, according to the district.

The district says aging school buildings need work on roofs, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning systems, safety equipment and other essential infrastructure. If approved, Measure BB would provide money for repairs and improvements while extending, but not increasing, the current tax rate.

The district has scheduled a Measure BB town hall from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Cajon Park Multipurpose Room. District staff are expected to discuss the bond, planned projects and funding, and answer questions from the public.

For Santee families, the measure would affect funding for repairs and improvements at local elementary schools. The district says the town hall will be recorded and posted online for residents who cannot attend in person. Residents can submit questions about proposed projects, funding, the tax rate and taxpayer protections before the event.
