Santee residents have until April 20 to submit comments on the city's draft Land Use Element update and the related Program Environmental Impact Report, according to a notice posted by the City of Santee. The public review period opened March 6.

The land use document will help guide how Santee plans future growth, development patterns and land use decisions. The environmental review examines the broader impacts tied to that draft update.

The city posted links to the notice of availability, the draft Land Use Element update, the draft environmental report and its appendices on its News & Announcements page. City officials said questions and comments should be directed to Principal Planner Madeline Mattson in the Planning and Building Department.

For homeowners, builders and residents following long-term growth in Santee, this is one of the more important planning deadlines on the calendar. The update could influence what gets built, where growth is steered and how the city balances development with infrastructure and neighborhood concerns.

Comments are due by April 20. More information and the full documents are available through the City of Santee's Land Use Element update page.
