Santee City Council members are scheduled to hold a public hearing tonight on a package of planning actions tied to the city's Land Use Element update, according to the July 8 City Council agenda.
The item asks the council to consider certifying a Program Environmental Impact Report, adopting findings and mitigation measures, approving a General Plan Amendment and introducing zoning ordinance changes to implement the update. If the ordinance moves forward, the agenda sets a second reading and adoption for Aug. 12.
The same agenda also includes a public hearing on unpaid weed abatement costs, a resolution adopting the 2026 Emergency Operations Plan and consent items covering maintenance contracts, trash capture device cleaning and public right-of-way improvements for a recreational vehicle and self-storage facility at 8355 Graves Avenue.
For Santee residents, the Land Use Element hearing is the biggest watch item because it affects the city's long-range planning framework and zoning map. Residents can attend the 6:30 p.m. meeting at Santee City Hall, watch through SanteeTV or submit public comment under the procedures listed in the city agenda.
