SANTEE — Santee Lakes is bringing back its beloved annual Egg-stravaganza on Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and it's shaping up to be one of the biggest Easter events in East County.
The event features more than 10,000 hidden eggs divided into age-specific "scrambles" — so every child, from toddlers to older kids, gets a fair shot at the loot rather than being outrun by older kids. It's a detail parents who've attended before appreciate.
Beyond the egg hunts, the Lakes transform into a full carnival: pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, inflatables, and local food trucks serving up everything you'd want on a spring morning. Admission to the Egg-stravaganza itself is free, though there is a nominal parking fee and charges for some individual activities and rides.
Santee Lakes is located at 9310 Fanita Parkway in Santee. Families are encouraged to arrive early — the scrambles are timed and space fills up fast. Additional details and event updates can be found at santeelakes.com.
If you're planning a full Easter weekend, the City of Santee's Bunny Trail event runs March 28 at Town Center Community Park East, and Parkway Plaza is hosting Easter Bunny photos through April 4.
