Santee leaders are scheduled to take up two major financial decisions Wednesday night: adoption of the city's fiscal year 2026-27 operating budget and whether to place a temporary 1% sales tax measure on the Nov. 3 ballot.

The City Council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. June 24 in the council chamber at 10601 Magnolia Ave., according to the city's agenda packet. Item 17 calls for continued review and possible adoption of the proposed operating budget for the new fiscal year.

Item 18 asks the council to consider resolutions that would put a general transactions and use tax before Santee voters. The proposed measure would establish a 1% general sales tax for 10 years and requires a four-fifths council vote to be placed on the ballot, according to the agenda.

The agenda also includes public hearings on annual levies for the Santee Landscape Maintenance District, Town Center Landscape Maintenance District, Santee Roadway Lighting District and a special tax within the Santee-Lakeside Emergency Medical Services Authority boundary.

Residents can attend in person or watch the meeting through SanteeTV. The full agenda packet is available through the City of Santee.
