Santee Opens Bids for Nearly $1M Citywide Road Maintenance Project

By Santee Pulse Staff · Published May 21, 2026 · 3 min read

Santee is moving forward with a citywide slurry seal and roadway maintenance project, with bids due Thursday morning for work estimated at $963,000, according to the City of Santee.

The project is listed as CIP 2026-02. The city's bid page says the time for completion is 50 working days, though it does not list a construction start date or final award decision.

Slurry seal projects are typically used to preserve pavement, extend road life and reduce larger repair needs. For drivers, the local impact usually comes later: temporary lane closures, parking restrictions or short-term access changes once specific work schedules are announced.

The bid materials list City Hall's Finance Department as the contact point, with questions directed to Toby M. Espinola. The city also posted addenda, plans and specifications, a plan holder list and related bid documents for contractors.

Santee residents should watch future city notices for the streets included in the final work plan and any neighborhood-level construction schedule.
