A boxing program designed for people living with Parkinson's disease has launched at Wise Owl Fit in Santee, according to Patch. The local program is affiliated with Rock Steady Boxing, a nonprofit exercise program founded in Indianapolis in 2006.

Patch reported that Danielle Barrett, a certified Rock Steady Boxing head coach, helped bring the program to Santee after seeing the need for more accessible support for families affected by Parkinson's and Parkinsonism. The program uses non-contact, boxing-inspired training to help participants work on movement, balance and confidence.

The Santee location is billed as the first Rock Steady Boxing affiliate of its kind in East County San Diego, according to Patch. That matters for local families who otherwise may have had to travel farther for specialized fitness programming tied to Parkinson's care.

For Santee residents, the opening adds another health and wellness option in town at a time when community-based programs can make a practical difference for patients and caregivers. Residents interested in details should check the original Patch report and Wise Owl Fit for class information.
