A suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run collision in San Marcos that occurred in February, the Sheriffs Department announced.
On the evening of February 21, deputies from the San Marcos Sheriffs Station responded to a collision in the 100 block of North Pacific Street where a pedestrian had been struck by a car. The victim, later identified as 62-year-old Carey Faust of Vista, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver fled the area on foot and was not located at the time, despite an extensive search.
On Thursday, April 2, Sheriffs Detectives arrested John Alvarado, 39, of San Marcos. He faces charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
