San Diego County homicide detectives arrested a San Marcos man Sunday in connection with a house fire that killed two people over the weekend, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.
Luis Alvarado, 33, of San Marcos was booked into San Diego Central Jail on two counts of murder and one count of arson. He is expected to be arraigned Thursday in North County Superior Court.
The deadly fire was first reported around 11:45 p.m. Saturday near the 900 block of Lacebark Street. First responders arriving at the two-story structure found two people dead inside a second-floor room. The identities of the victims and their causes of death are under investigation by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
Detectives with the County Homicide Unit made the arrest Sunday. No further details about the circumstances of the fire or Alvarado's alleged involvement were released.
