Santee voters following Tuesday's election can expect San Diego County's first unofficial results shortly after 8 p.m., according to the Registrar of Voters' schedule published by the county.

That first release will include mail ballots received before Election Day and votes cast at vote centers through Nov. 2. Later election-night updates will cover ballots cast at vote centers Tuesday, with a pause while workers secure and transport them. The last election-night update could arrive around 1 a.m. or later.

Mail ballots returned on Election Day and provisional ballots require additional processing. The county says eligible mail ballots postmarked Nov. 3 and received within seven days will be counted after verification.

Further unofficial updates are scheduled by 6 p.m. Nov. 5, Nov. 6 and Nov. 9. Results remain unofficial until certification, due by Dec. 3. Follow returns at sdvote.com and read the complete schedule at San Diego County News Center.
