San Diego County opened 41 vote centers Saturday for early in-person voting, giving residents across the county a head start before the June 2 election, according to NBC 7 San Diego.

The first vote centers are open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. NBC 7 reported that additional centers will open Saturday, May 30, bringing the countywide total to 220 locations with the same daily hours.

On Election Day, June 2, vote centers, official ballot drop boxes and the Registrar of Voters office will extend hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. County officials said early voting helps ballots move through processing sooner and can reduce wait times on Election Day.

For Santee residents, the practical takeaway is simple: voting does not have to wait until June 2. The county is directing voters to sdvote.com to find the nearest vote center, ballot drop box and election information.

The county also reminded voters that campaigning or electioneering within 100 feet of a vote center or official ballot drop box is illegal, including visible signs, audible advocacy or petition circulation near voting locations.
