A brush fire in Ramona closed a stretch of state Route 67 Monday afternoon and threatened nearby structures, according to Patch.

The fire, called the Main 2 Fire, broke out near Main and Etcheverry streets, Patch reported, citing Cal Fire. As of early afternoon, the blaze had spread over seven acres and was threatening structures.

Caltrans said SR-67 was closed in both directions between Dye Road and Hope Street because of the fire, according to Patch. Officials urged people to avoid the area.

For Santee residents, the closure matters because SR-67 is a key north-south route between Santee, Lakeside and Ramona. Drivers heading toward Ramona should check conditions before leaving and use alternate routes if the closure remains in place.

This is a developing public-safety story. Santee Pulse will update readers as additional official information becomes available.
