MTS Access service and several minibus routes are being disrupted by a Transdev work stoppage as contract negotiations continue with Teamsters Local 542, according to the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. MTS said Friday that service out of its Copley Park Division will be limited until further notice.

The disruption affects MTS Access, the paratransit service for passengers with disabilities who are functionally unable to use the regular bus and trolley system, along with 14 fixed-route minibus routes. MTS listed routes 14, 18, 25, 83, 84, 833, 838, 904, 944, 945, 964, 965 and 985 as affected, with additional weekend impacts on routes 832, 833, 838, 904, 945 and 965.

MTS said it is not a party to the labor negotiations because Transdev is the contracted service provider. The agency said Transdev is accommodating some Access trips with alternative transportation options, including taxis, while MTS works to operate as many fixed-route minibus trips as possible with alternate resources.

For Santee residents who rely on paratransit or minibus connections, the practical advice is simple: verify the trip before heading out. MTS is directing riders to check its Alerts & Detours page, call trip planning at 619-233-3004, or call 1-800-921-9664 for MTS Access updates.

The agency said trolley service is not affected and that most regular bus service remains on schedule. NBC 7 San Diego reported that thousands of riders countywide were having to find alternate transportation during the strike.
