A man was fatally struck by a pickup truck late Saturday night on a dark stretch of Woodside Avenue near Lindo Lake in Lakeside, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.

The unidentified man crossed into the path of an eastbound 2015 Ram 1500 on Woodside Avenue near Prospect Avenue at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 28. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

CHP public affairs Officer Jasmine Lopez confirmed that impaired driving was not a factor in the fatality. Investigators are working to identify the victim and determine the exact circumstances of the collision.

The stretch of Woodside Avenue near Lindo Lake Park is a community corridor used by walkers, cyclists, and families visiting the park. The collision serves as a reminder of the heightened risk to pedestrians on roadways at night, particularly in areas without lighting or marked crosswalks.

CHP is urging all pedestrians to use designated sidewalks and crosswalks, especially after dark, and is reminding drivers to remain alert for pedestrians along rural and suburban roads. The investigation is ongoing. Source: NBC 7 San Diego / City News Service.
