Children can receive free haircuts, school supplies and other back-to-school essentials Saturday during the Larry Himmel Neighborhood Foundation's 10th annual Back-To-School Haircut Drive in La Mesa, according to Patch.
The event is open to children 18 and younger on a first-come, first-served basis. Patch reported that organizers expect thousands of children and families to attend, with food, giveaways, a DJ, bounce houses and tickets to local attractions and sporting events also planned.
The drive runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Skyline Church, 11330 Campo Road. The event is presented with California Barber & Beauty College and Skyline Church.
For Santee families, the La Mesa location is a short East County trip and lands just as back-to-school shopping season ramps up. Organizers said more than 1,000 children attended last year's event.
