KB Home has opened Townsend, a new Santee townhome community at Mission Gorge Road and Aubrey Glen Drive, with homes starting in the mid-$700,000s, according to a July 24 company announcement.

The builder says Townsend offers three-story paired homes with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and access to the Santee School District. Planned neighborhood amenities include open space, a turf area, picnic seating and a children's playground.

For Santee residents, the project adds another new-home option in a city where developable land is closely watched and housing prices remain a major local issue. The site sits near state Routes 52 and 125, with Mission Trails Regional Park, local schools and parks nearby.

KB Home said the sales office and model homes are open for walk-in visits and private tours by appointment. The company announcement also says the homes are designed for energy and water efficiency and built to wildfire-resilience standards from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety.
