Santee is getting a new destination restaurant this summer: The Heritage Steakhouse is scheduled to open June 30 at Lantern Crest Senior Living, according to San Diego Magazine. The restaurant will sit on the sixth floor at 200 Lantern Crest Way and will be open to the public, not just Lantern Crest residents.
San Diego Magazine reports the restaurant is built around a classic New York steakhouse feel, with Art Deco touches, tableside Caesar salads, oysters Rockefeller, prime cuts of beef and sunset views from the tallest building in Santee. The menu is expected to include hand-cut USDA Prime Angus and Wagyu steaks aged at least 28 days, along with pork chops, rack of lamb, desserts made in-house and a full bar.
The project comes from Michael Grant, founder of the Lantern Crest community, who told San Diego Magazine he wanted to bring a higher-end dining option to East County instead of forcing diners to drive downtown, to La Jolla or to other coastal neighborhoods for that kind of experience. The 4,000-square-foot dining room is expected to seat 125 guests.
For Santee residents, the opening adds another notable food-and-drink draw to the city at a time when East County dining is getting more regional attention. Initial hours are expected to be Sunday through Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m.
