El Cajon watercolorist Chuck McPherson recently earned second place in the San Diego Watercolor Society's July 2026 Member's Exhibition, themed "Patriotic Sagas," according to East County Magazine.
McPherson's piece, "On the Road Again," was selected from 218 entries by juror Stephanie Goldman. East County Magazine reported that Goldman praised the work's composition and watercolor technique.
McPherson works in watercolor, mixed media, acrylic and oil, and has earned hundreds of awards during his career. He holds triple Signature status with the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies and Watercolor West, and in 2024 earned Master Artist status with the San Diego Watercolor Society after being juried into its International Exhibition for the 10th year.
The recognition adds another East County name to the region's summer arts calendar. The "Patriotic Sagas" exhibition runs through Saturday, Aug. 1, at the San Diego Watercolor Society Gallery, 2528 Dewey Road in Liberty Station.
The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, and the paintings are available for viewing and purchase. Source: East County Magazine.
