First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon will host a live Memorial Day observance at 3 p.m. Monday, May 25, as part of Taps Across America, according to East County Magazine. The gathering will take place near the flagpole at the church, 500 Farragut Circle in El Cajon.
The national initiative brings musicians, veterans and community members together to sound “Taps” at exactly 3 p.m. local time, aligning with the National Moment of Remembrance. East County Magazine reported that the observance is meant to honor fallen service members through the brief, synchronized tribute.
Organizers are encouraging attendees to arrive early and bring their own lawn chairs because seating near the flagpole is limited. Community members may also bring photographs of family members or friends who served in the military and have died.
For Santee and East County residents, the El Cajon ceremony offers a nearby way to take part in the national remembrance without traveling to a larger regional event. More information is available from First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon at (619) 442-2583 or through the church’s website.
