A 43-year-old El Cajon man was killed early Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into multiple parked vehicles, according to 10News.
El Cajon police said the crash was reported around 12:46 a.m. on Pepper Drive. Officers and Heartland Fire personnel performed CPR, but paramedics pronounced the rider dead at the scene, 10News reported.
Police said the rider was traveling east on Pepper Drive when the crash occurred. The roadway was closed for several hours while officers investigated.
Investigators said excessive speed appears to have been a factor. It is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role; that determination will be made by the Medical Examiner's Office.
For Santee and East County drivers, the crash is a reminder that late-night road closures and collision investigations can affect surface-street travel across the region. Anyone with information is asked to contact the El Cajon Police Department at (619) 579-3311.
