A 43-year-old El Cajon man died after a motorcycle crash on Pepper Drive, according to East County Magazine, citing the El Cajon Police Department and county medical examiner information.

East County Magazine reported that Ryan Edward Anacker was riding east in the 1600 block of Pepper Drive at 12:46 a.m. on Aug. 8 when he lost control and struck multiple parked cars. Police officers and Heartland Fire crews responded and started CPR, but paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The roadway remained closed for several hours while officers investigated. Lt. Kevin Reilly told East County Magazine that excessive speed appears to be a factor, while drug and alcohol impairment were unknown pending the Medical Examiner's Office determination.

The crash happened in El Cajon, but it is close enough to Santee to matter for East County drivers who regularly move between the two cities for work, school and errands. Late-night surface-street crashes can leave long closures and serve as a reminder to slow down on familiar roads.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the El Cajon Police Department at (619) 579-3311, according to East County Magazine.
