A group of e-bike riders blocked traffic on multiple El Cajon streets Friday afternoon, with police later impounding seven bikes, 10News reported Monday. Video from Magnolia Avenue showed riders moving between cars and into opposing lanes while traffic was stopped.

A witness identified by 10News as Lisa estimated about 50 riders were involved and said some appeared to be middle school age. She told the station that drivers were surrounded and that some riders behaved aggressively toward cars.

Less than an hour before the Magnolia Avenue incident, another driver recorded a separate takeover on Madison Avenue, according to 10News. El Cajon police said several riders were detained and that the impounded bikes included non-street-legal electric motorcycles and one modified gas motorcycle.

Police reported no crashes connected to the takeover. The number of citations and possible fines remained pending Monday, 10News reported.
