East County's July calendar is filling with concerts, theater, festivals and outdoor events, according to a new East County Magazine roundup published Wednesday.

The roundup highlights Santee's Summer Concerts, which continue Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. at Town Center Community Park East, 550 Park Center Drive. The city series runs through Aug. 13 and gives Santee residents a close-to-home option for free evening music without leaving town.

Other nearby picks include Arms Wide Open's "Tarzan -- The Beat of the Jungle" at Mt. Helix Park from July 17 through Aug. 2, Young Actors' Theatre's "Frozen: The Broadway Musical" at Helix High School from July 16-26, and Wags & Wine at The Water Conservation Garden on July 18.

For residents willing to make a longer East County drive, the roundup also lists Pine Valley Days on July 24-25, star parties at Mt. Laguna Observatory and the Ramona Country Fair from July 31 through Aug. 2.
