East County swimmers and divers delivered a strong showing at the San Diego Section CIF finals, according to The East County Californian.

Granite Hills sophomore Ella Morgan and senior Austin Felio each won two individual gold medals. Morgan won the girls 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, while Felio won the boys 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, with both swimmers posting state-level qualifying marks.

Grossmont sophomore Aramis Willett repeated as Division I butterfly champion, finishing in 47.58 seconds, and also placed third in the 200 freestyle. Steele Canyon sophomore Kasey Gray won the girls 100 breaststroke in 1:03.71, also under the automatic state qualifying time.

El Capitan senior Benjamin Brookshire won the Division II boys diving title with 230.15 points, moving up from last year’s third-place finish and qualifying for the state meet.

Other top East County finishes included athletes from Helix, Christian, Valhalla and El Capitan. The results give local schools a deep presence in the final weeks of the spring sports calendar.
