Construction Underway for New Right-Turn Lane at Cuyamaca and Mission Gorge

By Santee Pulse Staff ยท Published April 1, 2026 ยท 3 min read

The City of Santee has started construction on a new dedicated right-turn lane on northbound Cuyamaca Street turning onto eastbound Mission Gorge Road. The project aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety at the busy intersection.

To minimize disruptions to commuters, construction work hours will vary, taking place either during the day from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or at night from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday through Friday. The city has confirmed that access to nearby businesses, including Chevron and Raising Cane's, will remain open throughout the construction period.

The project is comprehensive, including street widening, drainage improvements, and modifications to the traffic signals. It also involves installing new concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, and pedestrian ramps, as well as new signage and striping.

Residents with questions about the project can contact the City of Santee's Engineering Department at (619) 258-4100 ext. 167.
