San Diego County supervisors are scheduled to deliberate and may adopt the county's $9.16 billion revised recommended budget at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 25, according to the County News Center.
The proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget is $522 million, or 6.1% larger than the current county budget. County officials said the plan is designed to protect core services while responding to growing community needs.
The county said the revised budget emphasizes public safety responsibilities tied to Proposition 36, health and safety-net programs affected by federal policy changes, behavioral health care, homelessness response, public health, infrastructure, libraries, parks and the Tijuana River Valley pollution crisis.
For Santee residents, the vote is worth watching even though City Hall handles many local services. County government oversees regionwide emergency preparedness, prosecution and detention, public health, elections, food and financial assistance programs, and services for unincorporated areas around East County.
The meeting will be held in Room 310 at the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway in San Diego. The county said the public can attend in person, watch online or on local government television channels, and adoption may continue Friday if more time is needed to balance the budget.
