San Diego County has added a BenefitsCal feature called Truv to help applicants verify income and employment electronically, according to East County Magazine and the County of San Diego Communications Office.

The tool launched July 20 and applies to CalFresh, CalWORKs, Medi-Cal and County General Relief applications. Applicants can securely sign in to an employer, payroll provider or financial institution, then review and confirm available information before submitting an application.

County officials said the feature is designed to reduce paperwork, postage costs and manually entered errors. East County Magazine reported that CalFresh reviews can take up to 30 days, making faster document verification important for families waiting on benefits.

For Santee residents, the change is most relevant when applying or renewing through BenefitsCal. If a participating employer or financial institution is available through Truv, the process may reduce the need to gather and mail supporting documents.
