San Diego County voters will start receiving mail ballots for the Nov. 3 General Election the week of Monday, Oct. 5, according to the San Diego County News Center. Some voters may receive ballots over the weekend.

The county says every active registered voter will receive a ballot by mail. Voters may return ballots by mail, at an official ballot drop box or at a vote center. The Nov. 3 ballot card has two pages, front and back.

Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3 and received by the Registrar of Voters no later than seven days after Election Day to be counted. Ballots returned at official drop boxes or vote centers must be turned in by 8 p.m. Nov. 3.

The Registrar's official drop boxes are red, white and blue, marked with the Registrar's logo and the county seal, and labeled "Official Ballot Drop Box." The county says only the Registrar's ballot retrieval team collects ballots from the boxes.

For Santee voters, the practical next step is to watch for the ballot packet and check the voter information pamphlet or sdvote.com for official drop box and vote center locations. In-person voting begins Oct. 5 at the Registrar of Voters office at 5600 Overland Ave.
